US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel greeted Minister of Defense Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi over phone on the occasion of Eidul Adha, the Pentagon Press Secretary George Little said.
"This morning, Secretary Hagel spoke by phone with Egyptian Minister of Defense Gen Al-Sisi. Secretary Hagel called Gen Al-Sisi to offer warm wishes for the Eid al-Adha holiday," the spokesman said.
"They discussed the importance of the US-Egyptian relationship to the national security of both countries and to the region."
According to Little, the two ministers also highlighted the cooperation over regional security and operations in Sinai.
"Both Secretary Hagel and Gen. Al-Sisi discussed their commitment to advance and strengthen the bilateral relationship between the United States and Egypt," he said.
