Iran, Egypt Likely to Enhance Energy Cooperation

During the recent visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
to Egypt, the two countries' energy officials discussed Iran's
investment in Egypt's oil and gas industries as well as construction
of petrochemical units and energy security issues.
Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qassemi, who accompanied President
Ahmadinejad in his recent visit to Egypt, discussed energy security
issues in his talks with Egyptian energy officials.
Earlier this year, the Iranian and Egyptian officials had
announced that Iran "plans" to export its crude oil to Egypt.
The Egyptian energy officials have also said that Iran can help
Egypt with construction oil refineries and training of manpower.
Tehran has voiced its readiness to help Cairo with production,
export, and transfer of gas to Egyptian cities due to having gained
valuable experiences in these fields in recent years.
